NAPM

Installing a New Network for Modern Communication

Since 2004, North American Precision Metals (NAPM) has been highly regarded as being the best supplier of quality perforating products — both locally made and internationally sourced.

The Fort Worth-based operation handles oil and gas perforating hardware, charge cases, end fittings, subs, detonation cord clips, liners, and various other plastics and metals. Additionally, it handles industrial and commercial springs, metal caps, molded plastics, stampings and more.

Recently, NAPM moved its operations to a new location in the Melody Hills neighborhood of Fort Worth. A warehouse was constructed with more than 12,500 square feet for even quicker access to inventory.

Fort Worth Manufacturer Adopts Mitel Cloud and Ruckus Wireless

NAPM turned to c2mtech with a major problem in network infrastructure. Already a year into construction, AT&T added fiber service at the back of the warehouse, 300 feet away from administrative offices.

The project kicked off with c2mtech adding a DMARC extension to deliver fiber where it was needed. Category 6 structured cabling finished the cabling build-out to conference rooms and office space.

Due to the height and size of the building, a scissor lift allowed technicians to route cabling 42 feet above the warehouse floor. To finalize the network project, c2mtech assisted NAPM in choosing an ISP, landing with AT&T Fiber Internet. A custom cabinet housed the cabling connections and delivered VoIP service, wired and wireless internet.

As a Ruckus Network Solution Provider, c2mtech installed a Wi-Fi solution with five cloud licenses for multiple access points with PoE injectors. The ZoneFlex R710 access point is built to handle high-performance and interference-laden environments. It was the ideal solution to deliver high bandwidth and coverage in NAPM’s large warehouse.

For a phone system, c2mtech migrated NAPM to the cloud with Mitel, allowing for lower service costs and better communication features. Employees would have the flexibility to answer calls remotely, collaborate more easily and conference. The new Mitel 6920 IP phones were connected and tested for call quality and signal strength. Before employees moved into the new office and warehouse, c2mtech trained staff on their new IP phones, including the mobile app, call forwarding, routing and the admin portal functions.

Now that NAPM’s network is up to date with modern voice and data connections, the company is well positioned to welcome and serve its growing customer base at its new, larger location.
